CASSUBIAN (?)

Hi,

Many thanks for everything.

I'm afraid I'm going to need a lot of help on this one.

I have vague memories of Polish friends talking about GORALSCY (I think), highlanders; possibly they said they were the most genuine of Slavs or something. They lived somewhere (I can't remember where) in the mountains of Poland.

Maybe they spoke a very pure, ancient version of Polish as well…

Please, what do you call the language spoken and the people who speak it in Polish? Any good web sites?

Or am I completely wrong?

Best wishes,

Simon

说明:
as it was explained already: kaszubski (language) and Kaszubi (Poland). Kaszubski is considered a separate language (west-Slavonic group) rather than dialect, while góralski (spoken by highlanders on the south of Poland) is clearly a dialect of Polish.
Kaszubski is very different, a Polish speaker would not understand a word of it. Also writing system is slightly different - we use special diacritics, because there is more vowels in kaszubski than in Polish. For example: Polish Kaszuby (the name of the region) is spelled Kaszëbë :)

There are plenty of interesting internet resources, most of them however is in Polish or in 'kaszubski' (or bi-lingual).
Some good websites: http://www.kaszuby.pl/ (there is a map, so you can see exactly where in Poland it is);
http://www.kaszuby.3miasto.pl/ this one is a big portal, includes some literature (in kaszubski), national anthem, dictionary, etc.

And here are some English resources : http://www.kaszubi.pl/ang/grabowska.pdf (bits of history)

http://syrenadancers.com/kaszuby.html (folk art, etc.)

cassubian (?)
kaszubi

说明:
"Cassubian" (kaszubi) live in the north of Poland, south -west of Gdansk (Danzig). They have their own dialect and a lot of traditions. They speak "kaszubski" language.

Górale is the Polish word for highlanders and they live in the Polish mountains (south of the country), they speak "góralski" language. (the second letter is a "o" with an accent)

Kaszubski

说明:
people: Kaszubi
language: Kaszubski
land: Kaszuby
I think this is what it means, but I'm not exactly sure where they are. From memory it's the nort-eastern part of Poland, the lake area. Definitely not the mountains.
