This is one of the not-so-frequent cases when the pronunciation is relayed 100%. Most of the time the conversion suffers, as some of the English phonemes do not have their equivalent conuterparts in Russian.

Also, these characters can be transliterated back into English as \"blad\". But the pronunciation is exactly like that in \"blood\".

The Russian \"a\" is always pronounced as the double \'o\' in \"blood\" & \"flood\", or as the \'u\' in \"mud\", \"luck\", \"run\", etc.
