Thank you all for your colourful contributions - and for making me chuckle. Am surprised though that not one of you questioned the validity of such a phrase in English. It doesn't actually exist - it was a back translation from the Russian (khren ego znaet) ;-) But I have now officially coined it anyway. And to anyone who questions my right to do so, I say: Get to horseradish!
PS Hecuba - as it happens I am there right now, in sunny Baku...
