A photo exhibition about a Nazi concentration camp compares the propaganda photos taken by the SS, which showed none of the atrocities, with those taken by the liberators.
I've spent two days trying to think of a single word to translate beschönigend. Not "retouched", because they weren't, and not "blue-eyed", which would be ironically apt (given the Nazi Aryan ideal), but doesn't quite have the right meaning. The pictorial equivalent of "euphemistic".

attempts to capture the 'schön' element don't seem to work very well ('prettifying/beautifying' etc) so perhaps an emphasis on the effect rather than the nature of their treatment ('cosy/rose-tinted' going in the same direction but not very SS-like)
I like JeffFish's 'sanitized' but I wonder if it is closer to 'verharmlosend', so maybe: ' the sanitized, reassuring SS perspective...'?

说明：
I could not figure if and why euphemistic is not the right word. What about palliative? It is more neutral and it should be that way. That's how I feel about it.
