This term appears in correspondence between patent attorneys regarding a limitation procedure. I am guessing it may be translated as "departure from the cited prior art", but am not very sure.

Zur Vermeidung einer Verwirrung hinsichtlich der Anspruchsnummerierungen beziehen sich die nachfolgenden Ausführungen auf die bisherigen Anspruchsnummerierungen, zumal nach diesseitiger Ansicht das Streitpatent auch ohne die Beschränkung rechtsbeständig wäre. Infolge der Beschränkung des Klagepatents wird der Abstand zum zitierten Stand der Technik sogar größer und keinesfalls kleiner.

Departure does not fit so much when you read, though Abstand has many meanings such gap, interval, displacement... Mine is just an idea
