When I convert STF files translated to Chinese back to mif using S-tagger, the resulting mif doesn't contain any chinese only the graphics, I don't have this problem with european languages.

Any idea how to solve this?

set your character set to "Symbol" Nov 14, 2007

While converting the files, set the Character set in the "Settings" tag to "Symbol" instead of "Normal".

Can I change to Symbol when converting STF to MIF? Nov 14, 2007

Thanks!

I just tried but it didn't work.

I originally converted the MIF to STF in normal mode, so I guess I would need to redo that step first in symbol and selecting chinese.

ancillary.rtf.ttx crash s-tagger Nov 14, 2007

Ok I generated the STF in TTX format this time making sure to set the characterset to Symbol and the target language to Chinese simplified.
And after translating them, I was able to successfully convert them back to MIF.

Only problem I have is that S-Tagger crash if I selected ancillary.rtf.ttx when converting to MIF.

Is it better to use the TRADOS GXT compatible option?

Could it be the problem of Windows OS? Nov 15, 2007

I always set the Character set to "Normal" when converting to STF and "Symbol" when coverting back to MIF and they always work. The only difference might be the Windows OS. I use Chinese OS and maybe you are using English OS?

I use Chinese local settings Nov 15, 2007

I actually set my local settings to Chinese when working on Chinese files.

Using symbol and TRADOS GXT compatible option worked fine for me, thanks for your help.
