I am a freelancer without business activity.
I have found some website where you can issue an invoice without having a business activity (being self-employed)

Do you have some experience with this service?

Does it pay off?

By 'no business activity', I assume you mean you have no business bank account.
What would be the advantages of this system over payment into you personal bank account?

... how you can be a freelancer without being self-employed. Then again, not an expert on Polish legal system.

I guess you confused the term freelancer. As a freelancer I can work on a mandate contract (fee-for-task-agreement) or a contract for specific task.
