Hello,

I have a proofreading task where I am supposed to use a glossary string from an agency, so I need to connect to their TM with CafeTran Espresso. Unfortunately, I cannot find where to copy the URL in, there is only one connection field, but it does not work there: Memory -> Connect to memory server... I tried it in Wordfast Anywhere too (as the agency mostly works with Wordfast) and it worked perfectly.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks

What does the string look like? Nov 15, 2016

Can you post an anonymized version of the string here?

If you have to use a glossary, can't you download a copy?

Would be interesting to test whether CT can and is allowed to login to WFA's server.

Perhaps Dominique is willing to answer this?

This is how the link looks like: Nov 15, 2016

tmgr://xx-xx.xxx.com/TMGR?prj=CLI000180&usr=CLI000180&pass=ABCD1234!&src=en&tgt=de

Unfortunately, this link cannot be opened in a browser (if this is what you meant), so I am not able to download anything.

I assume you redacted the domain (xx-xx.xxx.com), right? By the way, don't try to visit xx-xx.xxx.com (warning! not work-safe)

Not sure what "tmgr:" means. Shouldn't this be sth like "http:" or "https:"?

Yes exactly, the x's replace the domain. Nov 15, 2016

Thanks for the warning!

I assume "tmgr:" means something like TM Group, so stands for a workgroup, but this is only a guess.

Yes, that's what I was hoping for. So that a web resource definition would be possible.

Hope that someone from Wf will tune in.

"tmgr" is a Wordfast (or GlobalLink) thing Nov 15, 2016

Who told you you could use CafeTran Espresso? I just did some googling, and "tmgr" is a Wordfast thing, probably related to their online TM stuff. See e.g.:

I think you'll need to ask Igor Kmitowski, CafeTran's developer and owner (@ [email protected])!

tmgr:// probably refers to a locally (i.e., on yr computer or local network) installed server Nov 15, 2016

I think: tmgr://xx-xx.xxx.com/TMGR?prj=CLI000180&usr=CLI000180&pass=ABCD1234!&src=en&tgt=de means that you are supposed to access some kind of locally installed (hence the strange tmgr:// instead of http://) server/location on your computer, with the TermManager (TMGR) data.

No one told me that Nov 15, 2016

I usually work with CafeTran and not with Wordfast, so I wanted to use it this time too. But thank you, now I know that it is not due to my inability

Wow, good researching, Michael!

I'm not sure whether support for this term server should be added. On the other hand, perhaps it's a simple thing to do. I cannot judge that.

How about simply asking the client to export the terms to a tab-delimited glossary?

Of course you couldn't use this feature:

Automatic Synchronisation

enable automatic synchronization with GlobalLink® Term Manager (TMGR) whenever a term is added or deleted. Selected by default.
