There is still a misunderstanding about Trados and SDL. This leeds to questions about SDL Trados files etc.

Why am I writing all this fascinating stuff here in the CafeTran support forum?

In a (removed) thread, Samuel Murray wrote:

However, let me save you some grief by telling you a secret:
you can't deliver all the required files using just
CafeTran. CafeTran can only handle some Trados files, not
all of them. It may be best for everyone if you tell the
client exactly what files you can and can't handle (the
CafeTran crowd can tell you what they are).

I'd like to respond to Samuel's call here:

CafeTran can handle all files that have been created with all incarnations of SDL Studio (up to its latest version: 2017).

CafeTran can actually also handle the old-school Trados Workbench files. You'll have to save them as MS Word DOCX and choose the import filter MS Word uncleaned:

These Trados Workbench files are also called "bilingual files" or "bilingual Trados files".
