I know that there are plans to implement a database for the coordination of projects and resources when switching between projects, but perhaps this is a useable in-between solution:

  • The user always uses the project naming scheme of client/topic_sourcelanguage-targetlanguage_remainder: mueller_de-en_2018-07-06_GUI, legal_it-ja_2018-07-06_mercury_lawyers
  • The user creates project templates with the same naming scheme: mueller_de-en, l... See more

  • Whenever a user switches between projects via the Project Selector in the Dashboard, CafeTran Espresso 2018 will automatically select the matching project template, restoring all resources, pane arrangements, auto-assembling settings etc.

Thanks Hans,

I'll need to experiment with this solution. I'm sure it will work, but ideallly CafeTran should implement a complete project management system which stores all project settings in memory so that when an old project is recalled all relevant setting are fully restored too, making the Dashboard a truly starting point for everything. This is an assential feature that would make CafeTran even more appealing than what already is.

I agree with your request. As a matter of fact, the automatic switching isn't implemented. Probably Igor will go for a more robust, database-driven solution. Though I personally would prefer an XML approach (since I can simply edit this externally).
