The sun is shining, the weather is warm..everything is ready for the Powwow!

Ciao Helena,
I know you won't be shy :-) !! I'm counting on your smile and laughter to get the powwow moving!

Actually, if you are arriving in Fiumicino the Tika Club is quite close (except for traffic...on a good day it can take 10 mins, on a bad one up to 30).

It you have no problems informing your hotel you will be late to check in I suggest you come there directly, I will find a safe and locked spot to keep your luggage secure.

On the other hand, there is no direct train from Termini. You first have to take Line B from Termini, and then get off at Piramide or Magliana and change to catch the train to Ostia (Lido Centro Station, then bus 014 or 015 or taxi)

If your plane arrives at 4.30 pm, by the time you collect your luggage and get there it will be 6 pm. I will probably be there at 5.30, so we can have a pre-pre-conference drink.

Hi fellow translators and Daniela,
Is it possible to catch the trainto the powwow from Termini Railway station?
If not, where is it possible?
I don't know if I will make it by 6 PM, as my plane arrives to Fiumicino at 16:30 and I first want to drop my luggage at the hotel (not at the venue).
P.S. Don't worry: I promise you I won't be shy!!! ;o)))

The Tika Club Via degli Atlantici 48 Ostia (behind the Porto di Roma - Rome Harbour)

25 euro to be paid at entrance include:

- Aperol Spritz and/or Non-alcoholic Cocktail plus appetizers (served at 06:00)
- Open bar with wine, beer, water and soft drinks
- Open buffet and finger food (served at 07:00)
- One extra token for alcoholic cocktail (any further alcoholic cockatils to be purchased at the bar)
- Music with Cico DJ
- A wonderful sunset

p.s. if you’re feeling brave… bring your bathing costume and take a dip in the Jacuzzi

Buses from Lido Centro Ostia Station

bus number 014 or 015
get of at last stop Via dell’Idroscalo near TAMOIL Petrol Station.
At the roundabout (Tamoil petrol station on your left), turn right on Via degli Atlantici, walk is 600 m.
You will pass a medieval tower on the left hand side and some shipyards and nautical suppliers on the right, don’t be put off by the rough road…keep going until you get to number 48!
It may seem like a treasure hunt, but I promise you it’s worth it :-)

If you prefer not to take the bus+walk, you can take a taxi once you get to Lido Centro Ostia Station (the taxi stand is right outside the station). It’s approximately 5-7 minutes drive.

ever heard of BookCrossing?

Let's try this out:
1) bring a book you enjoyed and would like to share with others and leave it at the dedicated BookCrossing corner which will be set up at the Tika Club
2) pick a book you would like to read from the pile and find out which participant left it there (keep the book!)
3) don't be shy, break the ice and start having fun!

Break the ice and start making new friends at the pre-conference Powwow!

The pre-conference ice-breaking Powwow will take place at “The Tika Club”, located in Via degli Atlantici 48, Ostia, 00121 Rome (behind the Porto di Roma – Rome Harbour), the evening before the 1st ProZ.com Europe International Conference starts

The venue is a breathtaking lounge bar located along the Tiber river.
Don’t be misled by the unattractive street leading to the Tika Club: Via degli Atlantici counts many shipyards and nautical suppliers and may seem a little rough, but once you are inside the gates you will discover a fantastic place where you can enjoy full open bar service, finger food and plenty of great music.

The Powwow will begin at 6:00 pm, the location has been reserved exclusively for ProZ.com!

If you don’t want to take a taxi from the city centre, I suggest you take the Roma-Lido di Ostia train from town and get off at the Lido Nord or Lido Centro stop, and take a taxi from there (it is only a 5 minute drive), or take bus number 05, 014 or 015 and get off at the last stop (400 m. from the venue).
Another suggestion, if you are into sightseeing on Friday, is to visit the Roman excavations at the Ostia Antica archaeological site and then hop on a taxi.

Bear in mind public transport is not perfect around the venue, though distance by taxi or car is very reasonable.
