Chinese汉语 term

Zhong Er Bu Yi

This is a proverb used in a TV show about taking the official exams that will determine your professional career in ancient China. I just need to know what it means, either in Chinese or English is fine.

Thanks!

Fei Ge (asker) Feb 4, 2013:
more context Well there are actually two proverbs that the imperial exam administrators talk about: Zhong Er Bu Yi/Qiang Zai Jiao Yi. I would like to know what each one means.

please provide more context
Christian Dye Feb 4, 2013:
It could have a similar meaning to this. I've searched through several dictionaries and haven't found anything useful. 学而不已 means that sometimes things are better on paper; it's not enough to study, you also have to know how to put things into practice.

The official exams in ancient China were referred to as the Imperial Exams.
