English term

as-observed population

English Medical Medical (general)
My text is a pharmaceutical marketing text, presenting some results from clinical trials.

"An increasing proportion of XXX-treated patients achieved reduced disease activity and remission through the open-label extension of the ZZZ trial (as-observed population)"

I would appreciate an explanation of the concept "as-observed population".

population that is continued to be observed

Basically, those people that participate in the extension. Their number is most probably less than the number of participants of the main open-label.
