(receivables) discounting
> de aquellas cuentas por cobrar de tus proveedores: of those accounts receivable of your suppliers.
Discounting of receivables, rather than a discount: a lesson I learned very early on from the cognate German term of Diskont.
Discounting of receivables, rather than a discount: a lesson I learned very early on from the cognate German term of Diskont.
Example sentence:
What is receivables discounting? Receivables discounting is when you use your accounts receivable as collateral to borrow money.

: As Phil says, in this case it is payables that are being discounted so the supplier can be paid sooner, but discounting is the term for the financing procedure, not discount.

Thanks, Patrick. One man's recevbables is a another woman's payables. Ergo, cuentas por cobrar are receivables from the suppliers and payable by them.

: It's payables, not receivables. And taking a discount is the same as discounting.

Cuentas por cobrar are receivables from the suppliers and 'taking a discount' is IMO misleading tripe.

: En este contexto definitivamente aplica mejor discounting para explicar la remoción de cuentas por cobrar. En el campo de la contabilidad, "discount" se inclina hacia una reducción monetaria lo cual no aplica al contexto de cuentas por cobrar.

Gracias, Cristina. Me guista la correspondencia con reducción monetaria.

I'd have expected you, of all people, to distinguish between discounting of receivables and a discount/rebate receivable.

"A factor is an intermediary agent that provides cash or financing to companies by purchasing their accounts receivables. In short, a factor is a funding source; the factor agrees to pay the company the value of an invoice—less a discount for commission and fees.
Factoring can help companies improve their short-term cash needs by selling their receivables in return for an injection of cash from the factoring company. The practice is also known as factoring, factoring finance, and accounts receivable financing."

'a través del descuento de aquellas cuentas por cobrar de tus proveedores',
I suggest something like
'by taking advantage of your suppliers' discounts for prompt payment'.
This is not receivables discounting, which is why it says 'sus proveedores'. It's the money you owe your suppliers.
This service is called reverse factoring, or supply-chain finance. The bank pays your suppliers' invoices for you as soon as you receive them, and receives a **discount** for early payment. You then pay the bank the full amount when the invoice is due, a month later or whatever, so the bank makes a profit.
