The following safe work practices must be followed to prevent accidents associated with slip, trip and fall hazards:
• Manual handling in elevated work areas;
• Enclose processes and facilities that may discharge or leak liquids-bunding around tanks and storage areas;
• Inspect the work environment and fix leaking equipment;
• Clean up spillages immediately;
• Remove grease and oil spots properly; avoid spreading the contamination;
• Keep people out of slippery areas as a temporary solution – provide warning signs and barriers;
• Make arrangements to minimise risks from snow and ice; clearing, gritting, closure of walkways;
• Apply slip-resistant coating/strips;
• Keep traffic routes free from obstructions and dangerous projections;
• Designate walkways and mark their boundaries;
