My hunch is they are not the same. I would like to know both technically and in layman's terms, the difference between the two concepts.
Let me hear it from you.

Assembly of parts
Assembly of parts=
Taking multiple parts, and putting them together to form a whole. Such as, putting wheels, a steel frame, seats, etc. together to form a car. Or putting pieces of wood and screws, brackets, etc. together to make furniture.
Combination of parts....
People don't really say that. You assemble parts, you don't combine parts.
A "combination of parts" would be something like, a bunch of parts lying together on top of a table. Or you could say, "This model has different combinations of parts, depending on the intended functions and users." In general "combining parts" isn't really something that is done in manufacturing, to my knowledge.

I guess what I am trying to say about "combination of parts" is that it is almost like saying "mixture of parts", although 'mixture of parts' isn't really something you hear, either.

"Assembly of parts" can mean the act of assembling parts, or an "assembly" can mean the entire whole after it has been assembled (a car would be an "assembly" of various parts).

: In cooking instructions they would say "combine all ingredients" but not for car making. ;o)

: Oh I dunno. Taking bikes to bits, mixing up all the parts and throwin’ ‘em back together again is a ton-o-fun. And there’s always a nut and a seal left over. Now I wonder where they went.

construction vs mixing or gathering
Assembly of parts would refer to joining various parts to create a new whole. Combination of parts is a mixture, gathering or blending of different parts.

The explanation you offered is excellent. I cannot unfortunately divide the points. Thank you very much! |
