French term

carénage intégral

French to English Tech/Engineering Furniture / Household Appliances mattress design
From a description of a mattress:
"Suspension :
630 ressorts ensachés pour un 140 X 190 cm.
Carénage intégral (meilleure tenue des bords du matelas)"

I'm understanding this to be some sort of (foam/polyurethane?) support around the edges to stop them from sagging, but maybe someone else knows otherwise!

It appears to be a standard feature for many beds, but I'm just not getting it :-(

I also found multilpe hits for "perimeter support," but more often for a waterbed, it seems.

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "I eventually found this to be "integral encasing" (which provides the edge support), but your bedzine.com ref proved invaluable in tracking this down... So 4 points for getting me there in the end! Thanks :-)"
