@heidi The "consumers" are lights, heaters, feeders, waters etc. If, for example, the temperature in the piglet pen falls below a certain value, the piglets will be too cold and will not grow properly or become sick.

automatic feeders/drinkers, stable lights, air con Most larger animal production and dairy facilities are largely operated automatically. So you might monitor milk output and quality, general condition/health, bacteria levels etc. So say the parameter milk output declines, then you would want to adjust the automatic feeder output (increase amount fed). You would usually do that manually after analysing the paramers. But here, the drop in milk output would be part of the analysis in the central control system, which then triggers the individual controls in line with the parameter reading. So it reads and then triggers the adjustment of the settings of the individual control, i.e. in this example it increases the amount fed.
