Hebrew term

חוקר בלתי סמוי

Hebrew to English Medical Medical (general)
In a clinical trial what would be the translation of חוקר בלתי סמוי?

Thanks!

Discussion

Lingopro Feb 11, 2009:
I think yes.
Suzan Chin (asker) Feb 11, 2009:
... So if the term "blinded" can be used to describe the investigator, would it be correct to use "blinded/unblinded" to describe a test result as well?
Shai Navé Feb 11, 2009:
I agree with Lingopro.
Lingopro Feb 11, 2009:
I would say, literally, unblinded investigtor, since from your explanation Susan, its clear that the unblinded investigator can know the results or given drug, in order to report to the Sponsor, for eg.
Suzan Chin (asker) Feb 11, 2009:
... I have not come across this term either. It is supposed to be an investigator appointed by the chief investigator to report test results that cannot be divulged to the chief investigator. Thanks, Shai!
Shai Navé Feb 11, 2009:
מעולם לא נתקלתי במונח הזה, אבל אני יכול להבין ממשעותו שהכוונה היא (כנראה ) למחקר
single blind
בו המשתתפים לא יודעים אם הם מקבלים את התרופה או הפלצבו, ואילו החוקר כן יודע.
אפשרות נוספת אולי היא
לתרגם את זה מילולית.
האם single blind trial
מתאים לקונטקסט?

blinded

the word סמוי
is incorrectly used here by the Hebrew author.

what the author most likely means to say is:
unblinded investigator

Single-blind trial

Cf. definition:
Single-blind describes experiments where information that could introduce bias or otherwise skew the result is withheld from the participants, but the experimenter will be in full possession of the facts.

Sorry, I have not noticed Shai's clarification. I think, he has to post it as an answer and to receive the points.
