Votes to reclassify question as PRO/non-PRO:

PRO (2): Ramesh Bhatt, INDER M. SINGH

When entering new questions, KudoZ askers are given an opportunity* to classify the difficulty of their questions as 'easy' or 'pro'. If you feel a question marked 'easy' should actually be marked 'pro', and if you have earned more than 20 KudoZ points, you can click the "Vote PRO" button to recommend that change.

How to tell the difference between "easy" and "pro" questions:

An easy question is one that any bilingual person would be able to answer correctly. (Or in the case of monolingual questions, an easy question is one that any native speaker of the language would be able to answer correctly.)

A pro question is anything else... in other words, any question that requires knowledge or skills that are specialized (even slightly).

Another way to think of the difficulty levels is this: an easy question is one that deals with everyday conversation. A pro question is anything else.

When deciding between easy and pro, err on the side of pro. Most questions will be pro.

* Note: non-member askers are not given the option of entering 'pro' questions; the only way for their questions to be classified as 'pro' is for a ProZ.com member or members to re-classify it.

I think... that in order to help answerers and commenters, you should add some context!

Is it not so that he ran away?

'Has run away'= 'bhaag gaya hai'...'bhaag gaya'= ran away
Example sentence:

Is it not so that he has fallen in love with her?

Peer comment(s):

agree Ramesh Bhatt : I tend to agree with this expression--but still feel much missing in it.

I hope it's not true (that) / God forbid

that he ran/could run away

this is more or less the meaning, in correct, easily flowing English.

It's possible that he's run away! or Hope he hasn't run away!

or in the sense of question - Do you think he has run away?

How far can the foreboding be granted or not granted that he has run away!

This innocent-looking sentence, in its sensitivity, is complex. As it is, there is no readymade expression of it in English. We shall have to invent one. I call upon all my stalwart peers to devote some time to thinking of a better translation of the sentence, and settle this issue.

Some more expression that comes to my mind is:
How sure or unsure can one be that he hasn't run away?
Can we surmise the possibility that he has run away?
O' Tempora, O' Moses, he might have run away!

"Foreboding" can also be replaced by "feeling" in the expression.

Could it be that he has run away?

I think this carries the sense. The alternative could be: Hasn't he run away?

I fear/suspect if he has run away !

There can be several possible English translations for the sentence, though reaching the correct sense might seem to be a bit difficult here. Thanks !

The most fascinating aspect of this sentence is that it looks like a pseudo-question, although it rather expresses suspiscion. The most assumable scene would be like this: the speaker raises his/her voice as if making a query, and others agree or disagree to it, instead of giving a yes/no answer whatsoever.
