Discussion

Michele Armellini Jun 10, 2010:
I'm throwing in yet another guess: "proprietà industriale" (industrial design rights, I'd say). It can't be a VAT number if it's followed by a company name and not a number.
It does not refer to a person, does it? If it did, it could be: perito industriale
garrett higgins (asker) Jun 10, 2010:
no it doesn't. it might be: 'per informazione"?
Does it refer to a number? If it does, it may be partita iva: tax id.

per il (richiedente)

on behalf of the applicant/for the applicant

An Italian patent application has to be signed/stamped by the applicant or his agent. The precise wording can vary, but "per il richiedente" is fairly common, e.g.
p. Il richiedente
Il mandatario D'AGOSTINI dr. Giovanni (see page 17)

Perhaps, p.i. is a shortened version of that, as here:
p.i. WAM S.P.A.
Raffaele BORRELLI
(Iscrizione Albo Nr. 533/BM) (page 22)

proprietà intellettuale

not sure if it fits the context exactly

The subject-matter of the Directive is defined in Article 1. It applies to enforcement of intellectual property rights which include industrial property rights. The scope of the Directive is defined in Article 2. It applies to all infringements of IP rights in Community and national law, without precluding more stringent protection that the Community or national law may otherwise grant.
