i'm translating a book about workers struggles in Italy. There is a category of staff which is called "economisti" and I can't find what it is. Could you help in English, Italian, French or Spanish to discover what is the meaning of this word inside a factory ?
Here is the context: In quasi tutte le aziende italiane, così anche alla Magneti, vengono concessi consistenti e differenziati aumenti di merito solo agli economisti (attrezzisti, manutentori, ecc.) che rientrano nelle due categorie più alte,
Thanks in advance
Grazie mille !

A professional working inside of one of many fields of economics or having an academic degree in this subject is widely considered to be an economist, and any person within any of these fields can claim to be one. Economists are also employed in banking, finance, accountancy, commerce, marketing, business administration, lobbying and non- or not-for profit organizations.

Note from asker:
Thanks but it's not the answer. This word is used several times to describe a category of workers, not the economists, as social scientits |

travailleurs en régie
première remarque, si la réponse donnée ne semble pas correcte (et elle ne s'adapte pas au contexte en effet) pourquoi attribuer un point et clore la question: il aurait été plus simple d'attendre un peu.
L'emploi du mot "economisti" ici est abusif mais il correspond très probablement à celui de "lavoratori in economia" c'est-à-dire des ouvriers payés à l'heure, travaillant "en régie"
