Japanese term
rotational maneuvers

Medical (general)
Rotatioal maneuvers are used during a delivery to deliver a baby safely and without injury. I can't think of any good Japanese expression for this. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

肩甲回転術
Rotational maneuvers used during delivery seem to be associated with "shoulder dystocia (肩甲難産)" (baby is too big and the shoulders get stack), and four different rotational maneuvers are used (Rubin II, Wood-Screw, Rubin II and Wood-Screw, and Reverse Wood-Screw) to treat shoulder dystocia. 「外回転術」in English is "external cephalic version (ECV)" and is used to turn a breech baby (non-headfirst baby). I've read many English and Japanese sites, and it seems like rotational maneuvers are only practiced in the US. Only a few sites in Japan refer to shoulder dystocia, and all of them says cesarean section is performed on shoulder dystocia cases.
So, what I'm proposing here is to create a word for it. Since shoulder dystocia is 肩甲難産, I believe 「肩甲回転術」would fit the term "rotational maneuvers."
Hope this helps!

Comment: "Thank you so much. As you mentioned, 外回転術is used to turn a breech baby, and that was not what I was looking for. But rather, the technique used during delivery for exactly the case you mentioned. "

外回転術
I've seen this referred to as 外回転術 . It seems like this is performed by a doctor on a mother whose baby has not naturally fallen into a head-down position by the last few weeks of pregnancy. I'm not sure if it is performed during delivery though.

: they are usually done beforehand but sometimes the baby does rotate after the last checkup before birth, requiring this to be done during birth when the doctor discovers the condition.
