While both terms involve collections of writings, a miscellany refers more to the content, while volume factitio specifically refers to a composite book made by combining separate works. The emphasis is on the physical volume if you know what I mean. What emphasys do you have in the original? The content or the physical binding? If it is the physical binding, I would suggest you use a composite book instead of miscellany. The meaning in Spanish fluctuates between these two terms depending on the emphasis on content or physical book binding. Hope these comments help.

I am sorry, since he posted the definition in Spanish, I posted the definition in English that corresponded to it, and I thought that would be the equivalency he was looking for. I work with History in the United Kingdom, and the terms I hear for this type of book are miscellany and artificial volume, which I know sounds like Spanglish, but I have seen it a few times and also composite book. I agree you would have to research further as none of them really describe volume facticio in the same way as in Spanish.
