Source text - English The Arrogant Deer
In a forest, lived an Arrogant Deer which its routine activity was going to the pond to see its shadow. The deer feels so smug of his beautiful horns.
"Oh, my beautiful and strong horns!" The Arrogant Deer whispered to itself. But on the other hand the Deer hate its skinny leg. The Deer always grumble, “looks how skinny my legs. I want strong feet too. I wanted to look perfect from head to toe".
One day, the Deer heard dogs barking while doing its routine activity at the pond. The hunting dogs were heading towards to the pond. The deer feel scared and ran as fast as it could.
The Deer was running towards to the woods, unfortunately, its horns trapped between the tree low branches. Its struggles hard to release its horns but the hardest it is tried the more it got trap and the horn was slightly broken. It makes the Deer panic when it is heard the dog barked getting closer. Finally, the tiny legs help him to escape, even though its horn slightly was broken. Hunting dog is getting closer. The deer was able to escape because its legs could run fast. The deer has now admitted that its tiny leg just saved it from the danger.
Since the tragedy, the deer was no longer depreciate his feet. The deer did not see the leg as an ugly part. The deer was no longer arrogant with the beauty of its horn. The damage of its horn made its realized THAT beauty will not last forever and not guaranteed bring any good.
Translation - Malay Rusa yang bongkak
Di sebuah hutan, tinggal seekor rusa yang bongkak. Rusa itu selalu pergi di tepi kolam untuk melihat bayangnya. Rusa itu berasa bangga melihat kecantikan tanduknya.
”Oh, tandukku yang cantik dan kuat!” kata rusa itu berbisik sendiri. Namun demikian, rusa itu benci pada kakinya yang kurus. Rusa selalu bersungut, ”lihatlah betapa kurusnya kakiku. Aku mahu kaki kuat juga. Aku mahu kelihatan sempurna dari kepala hingga hujung kaki”.
Pada suatu hari, ketika membuat aktiviti rutinnya di tepi kolam, rusa terdengar anjing menyalak. Anjing pemburu sedang menuju ke arah tasik itu. Rusa itu berasa takut dan berlari sekuat hati.
Rusa itu berlari ke arah hutan, malangnya, tanduknya terperangkap di celah dahan pokok yang rendah. Rusa itu menarik dengan kuat untuk melepaskan tanduknya tetapi lagi kuat dia mencuba lagi terperangkap dan tanduknya telah patah sedikit. Rusa bertambah cemas apabila mendengar salakan anjing semakin hampir. Akhirnya, kakinya yang kecil itu menolong dia lepas, walaupun tanduknya telah patah sedikit. Anjing pemburu semakin hampir. Rusa itu berjaya melepaskan diri kerana kakinya boleh berlari laju. Rusa kini mengakui yang kakinya yang kecil baru sahaja menyelamatkannya dari bahaya.
Sejak tragedi itu, rusa itu tidak lagi memandang rendah kakinya. Rusa tidak lagi melihat kakinya sebagai bahagian yang buruk. Rusa tidak lagi bongkak dengan kecantikan tanduknya. Kerosakan tanduknya membuatkan dia sedar bahawa kecantikan tidak akan kekal selamanya dan tidak pasti membawa apa-apa kebaikan.
