Concordia (national capital of the citrus of Argentina), is located next to the Uruguay river, just accross the river from the Uruguayan city of Salto. It has a mild climate, there are many tourist attractions in the area (the "El Palmar" national park, the "Salto Grande" hydroelectric project, the "San José" palace, the thermal baths of Concordia and Federación, and many more attractions. Concordia (national capital of the citrus of Argentina), is located next to the Uruguay river, just accross the river from the Uruguayan city of Salto. It has a mild climate, there are many tourist attractions in the area (the "El Palmar" national park, the "Salto Grande" hydroelectric project, the "San José" palace, the thermal baths of Concordia and Federación, and many more attractions. Downstream from the Salto Grande hydroelectric project there is a very good area for fishing dorados (the largest one caught in the area weighed some 52 pounds or 23 kilos). The dorado belongs to the salmon family.
However, fishing is optional (and relatively expensive). Already five persons have shown interest in this gathering, and we expect them to confirm their interest here. Once we know who is coming, we may have the chance of sharing experiences, so if you have some subject related to our work that you might like to share, please advise me either here, or by E-mail to: [email protected]

If you come by car, it is some 380 kilometres from the city of Buenos Aires, and slightly more from Montevideo, Uruguay.
Hotels in the area cost 59 pesos (21 Dollars) for a 4 star hotel (San Carlos Resort) and 20 pesos (7.50 Dollars) for a 2 star hotel (Embajador).
Fishing (which in any case is optional) costs 240 pesos per motor boat for 3 fishermen.
A taxi to El Palmar National Park (40 miles or 65 kilometres away) costs some 20 Dollars for the round trip.

It is expensive, but still pretty affordable. Less than 25 dollars per person. Also, those people interested in the activity but who are not familiar with fishing may also take part in the boat trip.
Just trying to encourage others... Sounds like a very nice option, Concordia is a beautiful city, with a lot of historical sites.

We must keep in mind that in Argentina gasoline costs 3 Dollars the gallon, far more than in the USA. In Bariloche renting a boat can cost 25 Dollars the hour, and at Paso de la Patria the cost is more than double what it is at Concordia... Of course, the fishing area is smaller here: the concentration of dorados is along some 6 or 7 miles of the river (in the first half mile downstream from the dam, fishing is prohibited). Hola, Guillermina. Cuando se acerque la fecha haré una consulta concreta, pero por mi experiencia en el pasado, los guías de pesca generalmente proveen el equipo, aunque no sé si el de fly-casting.

No pesco con señuelo o mosca - nunca lo he intentado
He pescado, con buenos maestros - me ayudaron a preparar la caña et al. - en Ecuador (en Salinas) pero eso es deep-sea. Claro, era pesca de wahoo, atún, marlin, etc. esto es otro cantar.
Mis dos hermanos pesacaban hace muchos años...los tengo lejos así que necesito maestros locales.

He pescado dorados de ocho kilos varias veces, pero los hay mucho más grandes (en Concordia han sacado de 23 kilos, y en el río Bermejo de 34). Siempre he pescado el dorado con carnada natural (boga trozada o carnada viva). El agua tiene que estar clara para usar señuelo, cosa que solo se da cuando el río está bajo.... See more

Recuerdo la primera vez que fuí al Alto Paraná (Empedrado, Corrientes). Salí una hora y media en bote, pesqué tres chafalotes de entre 70 y 80 centímetros cada uno, y tuve seis cortes de línea en una hora y media (con nylon del 15 kilos de resistencia), es decir en promedio un corte de línea cada quince minutos...
Te aseguro que si te llega a tocar una experiencia como esa, no largas nunca más la caña de pescar...

Da la causalidad que el Powwow se celebrará la misma semana del año en que se batió el record. Vayan cruzando los dedos y afilando los anzuelos...

Cuando hay ganas, todo se puede... En Concordia hay telefónicas donde se puede acceder al uso de computadoras por un precio razonable. Yo he atendido trabajos de clientes desde allí. Y si les gusta ver las bellezas naturales de la zona, o simplemente pescar, no lo pensaría dos veces...
