Aranesp® (Air-uh-nesp)

Read this Medication Guide:
• before you start Aranesp,
• if you are told by your healthcare provider that there is new information about Aranesp,
• if you are told by your healthcare provider that you may inject Aranesp at home, read this Medication
Guide each time you receive a new supply of medicine.
This Medication Guide does not take the place of talking to your healthcare provider about your medical condition
or your treatment. Talk with your healthcare provider regularly about the use of Aranesp and ask if there is new
information about Aranesp.
What is the most important information I should know about Aranesp?
Using Aranesp can lead to death or other serious side effects.
For patients with cancer:
Your healthcare provider has received special training through the ESA APPRISE Oncology Program in order to
prescribe Aranesp. Before you can begin to receive Aranesp, you must sign the patient-healthcare provider
acknowledgment form. When you sign this form, you are stating that your healthcare provider talked with you
about the risks of taking Aranesp.
These risks include that your tumor may grow faster and you may die sooner if you choose to take Aranesp.
You should talk with your healthcare provider about:
• Why Aranesp treatment is being prescribed for you.
• What are the chances you will get red blood cell transfusions if you do not take Aranesp.
• What are the chances you will get red blood cell transfusions even if you take Aranesp.
• How taking Aranesp may affect the success of your cancer treatment.
After you have finished your chemotherapy course, Aranesp treatment should be stopped.
For all patients who take Aranesp, including patients with cancer or chronic kidney disease:
• If you decide to take Aranesp, your healthcare provider should prescribe the smallest dose of Aranesp that
is needed to reduce your chance of getting red blood cell transfusions.
• You may get serious heart problems such as heart attack, stroke, heart failure, and may die sooner if you
are treated with Aranesp to reach a normal or near-normal hemoglobin level.
• You may get blood clots at any time while taking Aranesp. If you are receiving Aranesp for any reason and
you are going to have surgery, talk to your healthcare provider about whether or not you need to take a
blood thinner to lessen the chance of blood clots during or following surgery. Clots can form in blood
vessels (veins), especially in your leg (deep venous thrombosis or DVT). Pieces of a blood clot may travel
to the lungs and block the blood circulation in the lungs (pulmonary embolus).
Call your healthcare provider or get medical help right away if you have any of these symptoms of blood clots:
• Chest pain
• Trouble breathing or shortness of breath
• Pain in your legs, with or without swelling
• A cool or pale arm or leg
• Sudden confusion, trouble speaking, or trouble understanding others’ speech
• Sudden numbness or weakness in your face, arm, or leg, especially on one side of your body
• Sudden trouble seeing
• Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination
• Loss of consciousness (fainting)
• Hemodialysis vascular access stops working

What is Aranesp?
Aranesp is a man-made form of the protein human erythropoietin that is given to reduce or avoid the need for red
blood cell transfusions. Aranesp stimulates your bone marrow to make more red blood cells. Having more red
blood cells raises your hemoglobin level. If your hemoglobin level stays too high or if your hemoglobin goes up too
quickly, this may lead to serious health problems which may result in death. These serious health problems may
happen even if you take Aranesp and do not have an increase in your hemoglobin level.
Aranesp may be used to treat a lower than normal number of red blood cells (anemia) if it is caused by:
• Chronic kidney disease (you may or may not be on dialysis).
• Chemotherapy that will be used for at least two months after starting Aranesp.
Aranesp should not be used for the treatment of anemia:
• If you have cancer and you will not be receiving chemotherapy that may cause anemia for at least 2 more
months.
• If you have a cancer that has a high chance of being cured.
• In place of emergency treatment for anemia (red blood cell transfusions).
Aranesp has not been proven to improve the quality of life, fatigue, or well-being.
Who should not take Aranesp?
Do not take Aranesp if you:
• Have cancer and have not been counseled by your healthcare provider regarding the risks of Aranesp or if
you have not signed the patient-healthcare provider acknowledgment form before you start Aranesp
treatment.
• Have high blood pressure that is not controlled (uncontrolled hypertension).
• Have been told by your healthcare provider that you have or have ever had a type of anemia called Pure
Red Cell Aplasia (PRCA) that starts after treatment with Aranesp or other erythropoietin protein medicines.
• Have had a serious allergic reaction to Aranesp.
What should I tell my healthcare provider before taking Aranesp?
Aranesp may not be right for you. Tell your healthcare provider about all your health conditions, including if
you:
• Have heart disease.
• Have high blood pressure.
• Have had a seizure (convulsion) or stroke.
• Are allergic to latex.
• Have any other medical conditions.
• Are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It is not known if Aranesp may harm your unborn baby.
Talk to your healthcare provider about possible pregnancy and birth control choices that are right for you.

• Un brazo o pierna frío o pálido
• Confusión repentina, dificultad al hablar o dificultad al entender el habla de otros
• Entumecimiento o debilidad repentino de la cara, brazo o pierna, especialmente en un lado del cuerpo
• Dificultad repentina al caminar, mareo, pérdida del equilibrio o coordinación
• Pérdida de consciencia (desmayo)

¿Qué es Aranesp?
Aranesp es una forma artificial de la proteína eritropoyetina humana que se receta para disminuir o evitar la necesidad de una transfusión de glóbulos rojos. Aranesp estimula la médula ósea para producir más glóbulos rojos. Tener más glóbulos rojos aumenta el nivel de hemoglobina. Si el nivel de hemoglobina se mantiene demasiado alto o si el nivel de hemoglobina aumenta demasiado rápido, se puede provocar graves problemas de salud e incluso la muerte. Estos graves problemas de salud pueden ocurrir incluso si Ud. toma Aranesp y el nivel de hemoglobina no aumenta.
Se puede usar Aranesp para el tratamiento de un número de glóbulos rojos más bajo que lo normal (anemia) si es causado por:
• Enfermedad renal crónica (Ud. puede o no puede recibir tratamientos de diálisis).
• Quimioterapia que será aplicada por lo menos dos meses después de empezar el tratamiento con Aranesp.
No se debe usar Aranesp para el tratamiento de anemia:
• Si Ud. tiene cáncer y no recibirá quimioterapia que pueda causar anemia por 2 meses.
• Si Ud. tiene una alta posibilidad de ser curado del cáncer.
• En lugar del tratamiento de anemia (transfusión de glóbulos rojos).
No se ha probado que Aranesp mejore la calidad de la vida, fatiga o bien estar.
¿Quién no debe tomar Aranesp?
No tome Aranesp si Ud.:
• Tiene cáncer y no ha hablado con su médico sobre los riesgos de Aranesp o si Ud. no ha firmado el formulario de confirmación del proveedor de atención médica y del paciente antes de empezar el tratamiento con Aranesp.
• Tiene hipertensión no controlada
• Su médico le ha dicho que Ud. tiene o ha tenido un tipo de anemia llamada Aplasia de glóbulos rojos pura (PRCA por sus siglas en inglés) que empieza después del tratamiento con Aranesp u otros medicamentos de proteína eritropoyetina.
• Ha tenido una reacción alérgica grave al Aranesp.
¿Qué debo decir al médico antes de tomar Aranesp?
Es posible que Aranesp no sea apropiado para Ud. Hable con su médico sobre sus condiciones médicas, incluso si Ud.
• Tiene una enfermedad del corazón.
• Tiene hipertensión.
• Ha tenido un ataque epiléptico (convulsiones) o un derrame cerebral.
• Tiene alergias al látex.
• Tiene cualquier otra condición médica.

CONSENTIMIENTO INFORMADO
¿QUE ES LA MAMOGRAFÍA?
La mamografía es la exploración radiológica de la mama por medio de radiaciones ionizantes, debiendo efectuarse siempre que sea posible de ambas mamas, para su estudio comparativo. Con esta técnica se recibe una irradiación mínima, de muy bajo riesgo, en relación con los importantes beneficios diagnósticos. Las proyecciones radiológicas habituales son: cráneo-caudal, lateral y, a veces, medio-lateral, axilar y localizadas, dependiendo del tipo de estructura, del volumen mamario y del problema que presente la paciente. Por tanto, el número de placas que se efectuaran generalmente serán 4-6, aunque en algunos casos, pueden ser necesarios hacer más proyecciones, siempre a criterio del facultativo. La mamografía es la exploración por excelencia para el diagnostico de las enfermedades mamarias y fundamentalmente para descubrir lesiones malignas (cáncer) en situaciones iniciales (precoces), aunque tiene limitaciones por lo que el hecho de no aparecer signos de malignidad en un mamograma NO es excluyente de que no lo presente en el 100% de los casos, pues dependerá del tipo de lesión, de la estructura de la mama y localización. De ahí la necesidad de los controles periódicos, para su comparación y para poder valorar cambios en los mamogramas que nos hagan pensar en la existencia de una transformación neoplasica, que habrá que confirmar histológicamente. La mamografía tiene limitaciones en el diagnostico cuando la estructura es muy fibrosa o en situaciones post-gestacionales en las que la lesión puede tener una densidad similar a la estructura. Esta exploración radiológica (mamografía) no es aconsejable realizarla en mujeres gestantes o con sospecha de embarazo. Por ello, cuando exista un retraso en la menstruación y/o se tenga sospecha de una posible gestación, se debe aclarar esta duda antes de efectuar la mamografía. Si usted posee implantes mamarios puede realizarse la mamografía pero debe comunicarlo a su técnico o radiólogo para utilizar la técnica más adecuada que minimice el riesgo excepcional, pero posible, de ruptura. Por otro lado, los implantes mamarios muestran una sombra en la mamografía que puede esconder pequeños tumores, por lo que pueden ser necesarias técnicas de desplazamiento manual de sus prótesis y la realización de proyecciones radiológicas complementarias que ayuden al diagnostico final.

WHAT IS A MAMMOGRAM?
A mammogram is an examination of breast tissue through the use of x-rays, which should be taken of both breasts in order to get an accurate reading. With this method you are exposed to minimal radiation with very low risk in relation to the important diagnostic benefits received.
Routine x-ray angles are cranio-caudal and lateral. Depending on breast size and shape and issues presented by the patient, mediolateral, axillary, and localized are also used. 4-6 x-rays are usually taken, although in some cases more are needed, at the doctor’s discretion.
Mammograms are effective exams for detecting problems with your breasts, as well as detecting malignant lesions (cancer) in early stages. This exam has its limitations. Some lesions may not be detected due to lesion type, breast size and shape, and location. For this reason, regular screenings are necessary in order to compare and evaluate tissue growth. In order to determine if these tumors are cancerous, a biopsy is needed.
Lesions may be difficult to detect post-pregnancy or when breast tissue is firm, due to the lesion’s similar density and structure.
Mammograms are not recommended for woman who are pregnant, or who may become pregnant. Tell your doctor if there is any irregularity in your menstrual cycle or you think you may be pregnant before receiving a mammograms.
If you have breast implants the technician or radiologist should be informed so that the most appropriate procedure can be used in order to minimize the risk of rupture. Breast implants can also obscure the image and mask small tumors. For this, the technician will have to use special techniques and take additional x-rays for a proper diagnosis.

Tras una interrupción en la alimentación eléctrica será necesario configurar la hora visualizada por el reloj interior del dispositivo PC1F.ME1. Para regular el reloj es necesario pulsar de forma contemporánea las teclas PT y KL durante por lo menos 3 segundos.
El dígito intermitente de la izquierda del punto indica las horas y el de la derecha los minutos. Pulsando las teclas +A o -A es posible aumentar o disminuir las horas, y manteniendo pulsadas las teclas +A o -A la variación del número de horas se produce de forma continua.
Para regular los minutos pulsar de nuevo la tecla PT. Sa activará el parpadeo de los dígitos a la derecha del punto separador y luego para variar los minutos efectuar lo mismo que se indica para las horas. Pulsando la tecla PT se memorizará el horario configurado.
Desbloqueo quemador
Los quemadores en estado de bloqueo disponen del correspondiente display que visualiza la letra “b”. El desbloqueo se activa pulsando juntas las teclas -A y la tecla KL de forma continua durante por lo menos 2 seg. Al final del desbloqueo los quemadores se restablecerán en el nivel 0, listos para ser encendidos de nuevo.
N.B: si se tuviera que repetir el procedimiento de desbloqueo 5 veces consecutivas en un periodo de 15 minutos, el dispositivo visualizará Ft06 y no aceptará ninguna solicitud de desbloqueo durante los siguientes 15 minutos.
