Spanish term

resistencia minorada

Spanish to English Other Construction / Civil Engineering
La interconexión se diseñará para tener una resistencia minorada no menor a 0.25 veces la resistencia teórica a tracción del miembro diagonal.

I have been searching without success for an English equivalent to this term, which refers to steel standards for seismic-resistant buildings. I have not found 'reduced strength' in similar English texts. The closest term seems to be 'nominal strength'. Would this be equivalent?
Proposed translations (English)
2 reduced strength

@Chris. Just read some pages of the paper.
It is basically based en American standards.
When they wrote it they introduced words used by Venezuelan engineers.
For example they translated "required strength" as "factores de mayoración".
They published a sort of lexicon explaining the meanings of technical words used in your context.
I think you should restrict these questions to people living in Venezuela. Good luck, :-)

I don't think so, as this is the source text from Venezuela which can also be viewed online: http://www.funvisis.gob.ve/archivos/pdf/normas/norma_diseño_...

@Chris Somewhere, somehow, a mechanical translator is paying pranks on us.
Technical mumbo jumbo.

Here's another sentence with a little more context:
La resistencia minorada de todos los miembros y conexiones de un pórtico de momento con vigas de celosía, excepto los pertenecientes al segmento especial, será capaz de tomar las solicitaciones mayoradas de las combinaciones (10-6) y (10-7) y las fuerzas laterales necesarias para desarrollar la resistencia nominal al corte esperado en todos los segmentos especiales, V[2]ne [3], calculado con la formula (11- 3)

@Chris Can you tell us briefly what this 'interconnection' is/does/looks like? And what is/are 'interconnected' by it? (It's not that I haven't a clue what it is or does, but it would be helpful to have confirmation before answering.)

Strange phrasing. Tradetrad?

reduced strength

What about "reduced strength"?
I can also think of "diminished tolerance" in case we consider it tolerance towards earthquakes.

Wish you luck!!
