The pressure gradient that we found most effective in terms of increasing fomoral vein flow velocity was with the lower extremities placed slightly dependent position (15 degree down tilt). The higher pressures found in this study suggest that the optimal effect of most of stockings tested would be with the limbs even more dependent.
