English term

to apply at a swing

English to Polish Tech/Engineering Electronics / Elect Eng resonance motor
In some embodiments, the periodic voltage signal has zero voltage in one of the half cycles (similar to the excitation
function that a person applies at a swing, where also only energy is applied at the swing in one
movement direction).

The term swing exists only in this sentence of the whole patent description. Upon lots of research
I am still at square one trying to find reasonable meaning of this. I need suggestions.
The text was previously translated from German, perhaps using AT.

Discussion

PanPeter (asker) Jul 15, 2018:

Frank Szmulowicz, Ph. D. Jul 11, 2018:
The analogy here is not complete. Not only must the swing be pushed in one direction, it must have an almost infinite resitance to being pushed in the other direction. I do not know what the author has in mind, but this looks like a diode rectifying circuit in which the current can go in one direction but not in the other, it is a rectiier.

przyłożyć do huśtawki

This is analogy to the simple harmonic motion of the children's swing.
Note from asker:
Frank - you are awesome, why didn't I think of that. Thank you.
