Hi,

I am currently translating a user manual that actually I find quite interesting. However, I am curious to know how many of you truly read user manual.

Thank you!

A poll? Jun 19, 2016

Perhaps, you should suggest a poll. Of course, if you are really interested.

My answer: this depends on a particular program.

My end customers read them! Jun 19, 2016

Unless, that is, they want to lose a limb, get electric shocks, or see their plant burn.

(I am a technical translator and I mostly translate about machinery and industrial equipment.)

You are right. I will do so, but who knows when or if it will ever be posted

Thank you!

I check the manual only when there's something I can't do or find, because *most* manuals--especially those MT-re-translated--seem to be designed to confuse and make laugh (at one's expense!); hopefully, with funny diagrams.

For example, this year I had glanced only once at a specific VPN 'how-to' for my Android, no other manuals. If it counts, then I did read a few read.me's)

My Standard Operating Procedure: when nothing else is left as a possibly helpful option, you can always try reading the manual ...

although I did read very carefully manuals and instructions for climbing equipment.
