I had always thought that the word 'Ye' (pronounced as yee) was an actual word in the English language. Archaic, sure, but still a word. After all, what about 'Ye Olde Shoppe' that sprouts up at every renaissance fair or all the passages in the King James Bible? Without even thinking about it, I believed that 'Ye' was a word.

Ye = The
This just means "The Old Computer Fair". It is an attempt at humor to say that the university has to sponsor all sorts of silly activities and cannot concentrate on their core responsibility.

: ye (old use) = a word meaning 'the', used especially in the names of pubs to make them seem old eg a pub in the village called Ye Olde Barn (Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary)
