It happened during my one month stay in Italy when I was a guest of an Italian family. I didn't know any Italian or English at the time and the family didn't speak any Russ...ian. Well, if you get thrown into the deep end you'll learn to swim very quickly and so did I - I picked up Italian quickly...
I travelled to Italy every year since then and after school I decided to try and pass the admission exams to study Italian philology at the Belarusian State University. There were only 14 people that were accepted and I was one of them. This is probably the thing I am most proud of.
During those years at the university, I travelled to Italy as an interpreter for children on one month recuperation holidays with Italian families (yes, like I did when I was a child). I also enjoyed the university very much and I have really broadened my knowledge and mastered my Italian, but I still wanted to become a translator, so after graduating I moved to Italy and entered SSLMIT (faculty of translating and interpreting studies) at the University of Bologna. I studied Italian, Russian and English interpreting and translation and graduated in 2009.
While studying in Italy I was working part-time as an interpreter and translator and after moving to New Zealand in 2010 I have been working full-time as a freelance interpreter, translator and Italian and Russian tutor.
