I have an Iphone 14 pro and I haven't been receiving Gmail (or Yahoo mail) notifications on my phone properly for more than a week now.
I haven't changed any of the settings, nor updated the phone till yesterday. I tried disabling/enabling Gmail notifications from the settings and turning off/on the phone.
When I do that and try sending myself an email I seem to get the notification with an alert initially, but after that I don't hear any alerts from the phone and when I check the Gmail app later in the day, I see a number of emails received minutes, hours ago. Sometimes I see Gmail notifications appear on the screen, but I haven't heard any alerts despite being in the same room as the phone (which totally defeats the purpose).
I've already missed out on 2 jobs this week because of this (which goes to show the cutthroat nature of this business: you respond 15 to 20 minutes late and you've lost the job), and I can't afford to lose any more jobs, nor can I be arsed to check my emails every 3 to 5 minutes or sit in front the of the computer all day long to rely on desktop notifications.
Is any other Iphone user here having this problem or has experienced it in the past? How do I resolve this issue? Without the Gmail notifications, the phone is of about as much use as a Nokia 6110.

I'm one. No matter how many times I check all my settings, I still find that my iPhone cannot be relied on to send me messages, notifications etc.

Checking my iPhone settings has become a time-comsuming task.

Apple has made the settings so complicated and so numerous, and given them strange names, that I'm constantly asking ChatGPT to tell me how to do things. And needless to say, ChatGPT can be very wide of the mark.

The unreliability of iPhone is one reason why I prefer to use email on my desktop computer.

Oddly enough I seem to get notifications from Proz all the time, like when I heard the email sound on the phone thinking it might be a job from an agency, but only to find it was your reply to this topic
I never had this issue about 2 weeks ago where I would receive sound notifications for every email, but now it's totally random and arbitrary. I might receive 3 or 4 emails with sound on a row, but after that the phone goes into radio silence or I receive totally unnecessary emails from Proz or ATA, but miss important emails from agencies.
I tried most of the suggestions online short of uninstalling and reinstalling the Gmail app. I don't know what else to do.. if it goes on like this I'll seriously consider buying an Android phone, though I'm not sure if I'll have a similar issue with Android as well.
