I have never EVER had a creme egg!
Neither have I. And I just don't like sweets at all. When I was a child, it was a custom to bring sweets when you visited a family with children so we always had a box full of chocolates, candies etc. And I would give them away to my thankful peers. Sweets have never been on the menu, we never bake cakes although we generally cook a lot at home.
Those eggs you are discussing must be very sweet, right?
Basically chocolate and sugar | Apr 15, 2007 |
To those who are not sure what these eggs are like, they are made up of milk chocolate and sugar syrup. That's it. Inside a standard milk chocolate egg, there is a filling of thick sugar syrup that is white at first but is yellow in the middle to imitate a good old egg. Not for people on a diet. In fact, I am sure one measly little egg contains a good 600 calories all to itself, which is the equivalent of a hearty meal. To health-conscious people, this might well be the epitome of disgustingness... See more To those who are not sure what these eggs are like, they are made up of milk chocolate and sugar syrup. To health-conscious people, this might well be the epitome of disgustingness. 0 vitamins, 0 minerals, 0 fiber - only a huuuuge dose of sugar. But since they are only sold for about a month and are meant to be eaten at Eastertime, I guess indulging once a year can't be that bad...
To those who go mountain climbing or extreme camping, this little treat can be a good alternative to plain chocolate and cereal bars as it pack a lot of calories in a very small package. Other than that, confine it to Easter celebrations.

Be treatwise... | Apr 15, 2007 |
This is what's written on the back of my wondrous creme egg box:
"Each egg contains:
Calories 175 Sugars 25.4g Fat 6.2g
Saturates 3.8g Salt 0.05g"
That makes only 28.2% of the GDA (Guideline Daily Amount) in sugar!!! These things are practically fruit!
There's fibre too - a whole 0.1g, and even 1.3g of protein! They even contain REAL eggwhite - dried, granted - but real egg all the same....

Update:
I not only got a 12-box of regulars, I got two tubes of minis, which I had never had before. My thighs don't know what's hit them!
Another added and unhoped for bonus is that my husband has decided he doesn't like them. I only have to fight with the children now
P.S. how do you make your smilies giggle?
