P.K. Chan was born and raised in the former British Crown Colony of Hong Kong. Having graduated from an U.S. accredited university and being a native speaker of Cantonese, he is able to speak and write both Chinese and English fluently. With a strong socio-linguistic background and holding a Master Degree on school administration, he has been a language teacher in both Hong Kong and the U.S. for more than twenty years. With several years of experience serving as the Bilingual Coordinator for the Citywide Bilingual Programs and the school administrator, he has first hand knowledge on school policies, education issues, and community advocacy. He is now serving as the official Chinese translator for a Public Schools system and working as a freelance translator for various government agencies. Apart from offering free translation services to local Chinatown grassroots community organizations, he is also a newspaper columnist and blogger contributing articles regularly to local Chinese newspapers. |
