English英语译成Chinese汉语: The New Economic Regime – Resetting Market Expectations General field: 商务/金融 Detailed field: 投资/证券
原文文本 - English英语 The past 12 months have been challenging for financial markets, with recessionary fears, stubborn inflation, rising interest rates, and geopolitical concerns combining to unsettle investors. As such, there are hopes the road ahead will be smoother with lower borrowing costs, easing prices, and a more amicable global backdrop.
At XXX Investment Management, we are challenging the likelihood of this desired outcome. Instead, we think the world is entering a new economic regime. One marked by ongoing shifts in global events that could disrupt asset class correlations and a more gradual pace of central-bank easing, especially if inflation remains elevated. Therefore, markets need to recalibrate their expectations.
Yet, despite these concerns, there remain some bright spots, with European equities benefiting from the market’s pivot towards value stocks. Meanwhile, share prices in the US are supported by the country’s ongoing economic resilience.
In the upcoming webinar, our speakers will highlight:
• The reasons why a global recession may only be postponed, not cancelled.
• What is underpinning persistently high core inflation?
• Investment themes including evolving geopolitics, socioeconomic risk, and the diverging paths of emerging and developed economies.
• The outlook for the second half of 2023 with a focus on US and European equity markets.

翻译文本 - English英语 Understanding The Post-Retirement Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF)
By 2069, nearly two out of every five Hong Kong residents are expected to be senior citizens, and the problem of population ageing is becoming more and more serious. In view of this, the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) has actively encouraged the industry to launch more post-retirement investment or financial management schemes in recent years, to help retirees create a stable retirement income. In addition to the annuity and Reverse Mortgage Programme launched in the past, the MPF scheme has recently launched a new investment option suitable for retirees: the post-retirement MPF. Its purpose is to help retired people, and those close to retirement age, continue to increase their assets during the MPF withdrawal period after retirement, so as to combat risks such as inflation and longevity.
Hong Kong wage earners generally pay into an MPF for 30 to 40 years. The withdrawal period after retirement is generally less than 30 years. However, the assets still need to fight long-term inflation to maintain their purchasing power. Therefore, the investment strategy of the post-retirement MPF should not be too conservative.
Most of the post-retirement funds are mixed asset funds, with about 20% to 60% of their investment portfolio invested in stocks and risk assets related to stock funds. Some funds are invested in markets outside Hong Kong to seek higher returns. At the same time, in order to "protect principal", funds will also be invested in defensive assets, such as national bonds, corporate bonds and deposits. In response to market fluctuations, professional fund managers will also flexibly and actively monitor and manage their portfolios.
If we refer to the return performance of the mixed asset funds over the past two decades, after deducting fees and expenses, the annualised return is 4.7% (1), outperforming the inflation of 1.8% (2) in Hong Kong in the same period. However, there are differences in the distribution of investment returns among different funds. Some funds pay dividends regularly, but it should be noted that the dividends may be deducted from the principal; some funds will reflect the investment return in the fund price. Investors can flexibly withdraw assets from the fund according to their own requirements, to meet the needs of retirement.
In addition, there are also relevant funds on the market that offer management fee concessions to retirees over the age of 65. As a result, eligible members would enjoy a rebate from the fund companies. Retirees should pay more attention in order to meet their personal financial needs more effectively.
