We are continuing the transformation of our company and working to enhance speed, simplicity, and accountability.
The goal is to make each of us more effective in our own roles and ensure we work together as a powerful global team to help our company realize its full growth potential.
Since the recent announcement explaining the formation of our new operating model, members of Xylem’s Executive Council have been focused on making decisions regarding organizational structure, resource allocation and work processes.
This work is taking considerable time because there is significant complexity involved – including mapping the transition from the former Water Solutions structure to the new Growth Center and regional structures; assessing how to best align the functional organizations to the new model; and consulting with local partners on a country by country basis on some proposed changes.
Much progress has been made, but work will continue for some time.
We recognize that many of you have questions about the new structure and what it means for your roles.
We are committed to finalize decisions and provide clarity on organizational structure, positions and responsibilities as rapidly as possible and anticipate being able to share further information in the weeks ahead, with the goal of completing all related organizational updates within the first quarter.

Our Analytics business could have coasted along with their market-leading sonde. Instead, a team wiped the slate clean and came up with a new underwater monitoring platform that is winning awards and customers.
Xylem’s product designers are constantly being challenged to come up with the next big thing. Sometimes they get there through a series of small product evolutions over a long period of time. But every once in a while, the breakthrough comes from throwing away all the maps and driving off in a completely new direction.
That’s exactly what a team of Analytics designers has been doing for the past four years, and the result is the new YSI EXO sonde that’s winning technology awards and winning over water professionals around the world who want to collect vitally important water quality data.
Sondes are cylindrically shaped underwater computers and power sources that are fitted with a suite of water quality sensors and deployed in a variety of ways – from ships or on buoys, piers, autonomous underwater vehicles and other submerged platforms – to monitor water temperature, pressure, conductivity, dissolved oxygen, pH and other water quality data.
With the readings, users can monitor ecosystem health, climate change, pollution discharge, drinking water intake, fish farm health and storm impacts.
Question everything
The new EXO sonde started life in the typical way, as another planned improvement to Analytics’ legacy, market-leading 6 Series sonde platform that had been satisfying customers for 15 years. But something interesting happened on the way to the drawing table. Urged on by marketing, the development team decided to question everything.

翻译文本 - English英语 In 1995, Don Zhang became the first Malaysian admitted to Shanghai Conservatory of Music with double majors in dulcimer and vocal music. Then he graduated TWO years earlier with excellent academic performance. On school days, his teachers were the late soprano Shuilian Li and the late professor Chaozhi Ge, from whom he learned vocal music. And later he was admitted to Opera Research Institute of Toronto School Of Music Canada in 1998.
During his study in China and Canada, he won the second prize in the contest (-sponsored by the Beijing-based CCTV) where the foreigners competed in singing Chinese songs, and later won the folk group champion in Kiwanis Music Festival sponsored by the government of Toronto, Canada. From 2000 to 2005, he was employed as a full-time lecturer in Music Department of Malaysian Institute of Art. He was interviewed and invited to give many different lectures, appreciate music and serve as a judge by radios, televisions, schools, communities and newspaper medias for many times during those years.
He has ever held several concerts including “Don Zhang Concert” in 1994, “Two feelings” Dulcimer and Vocal Music Concert in 1999 and “The Yellow River” Dulcimer and Concerto concert in 2002, and they were all well received.
At present, Don Zhang has been devoted to the vocal music teaching for children and founded a children's singing group –＂The Young Sparklers＂in 2011. He acts as the director and conductor for it.

To assure positioning accuracy to the order of nanometer and high responsiveness to the NC command friction coefficient of the bearing should be minimized, where possible.
A re-circulation type ball/roller bearing or crossed roller type bearing, which is commercially available and widely used in general machine tools, is employed in some precision machines due to low friction coefficient and high rigidity.
They cannot serve, however, as the linear guideway of the machine tool producing extremely precise profiles due to generation of micro waviness when the rolling element is inserted or removed to and from the moving unit.
For this reason, a V-V hydrodynamic guide, aerostatic or hydrostatic guide are mostly used as the linear guideway for high-precision machining.
Fig. 1 shows the V-V dynamic guide.
Its construction is simple, and after careful scraping, smooth motion without causing micro waviness and straightness of 0.3m per 400mm travel, or less can be assured.
This performance is enough to serve as the guideway of the high-precision machine, and the V-V hydrodynamic guide is used as the feed guideway of the high-precision slicing machine or the polygon mirror generator which are not requiring precise positioning.
A hydrodynamic guideway, however, the friction coefficient is as large as 0.2 to 0.3 and stick-slip is caused in the area where the federate is 0.1mm/min around.
It is rather difficult to use it for the guideway requiring precise positioning to the order of nanometer or synchronization with other axes.
The hydrostatic and aerostatic guideways are said to be ideal in terms of geometric accuracy of motion, positioning accuracy, responsiveness and micro waviness.
On the other hand, oil film and air film thickness will change easily with unbalanced load.
For the hydrostatic guide, control of flow ripple in supply pressure oil is difficult, and to maintain thermal stability, temperature control accuracy of supply oil should be 0.01, which is extremely strict.
This is why application of these guideways is very limited.
As already stated above, the V-V hydrodynamic guideway can be used for high-precision machines also in terms of rigidity, accuracy and compactness.
A hydrodynamic bearing, however, it is not suited for fine positioning and feed at extremely low speed.
To solve this problem, we have developed the non-circulation type V-V roller guideway incorporating the rollers between the V-V guideway and moving unit, whose roundness, cylindricity and diameter are precisely controlled by making the most of the V-V hydrodynamic guideway features and reducing friction coefficient as in the liquid bearing.
