SMG Languages, an international agency specializing in linguistic and cultural intelligence, translation and high-end language services, is seeking experienced Editors, Journalists and Subject-Matter Specialists to contribute to editorial and linguistic projects for leading national and international clients and brands.
As part of our ongoing commitment to editorial excellence, we are expanding our international network of highly qualified professionals with proven expertise in at least one of the following languages and one or more specialist fields.
Fields of Specialization
• Economics: economic affairs, global markets, business, international trade and geopolitical developments.
• Law & Finance: legal affairs, regulatory frameworks, financial markets, corporate finance and institutional communications.
• Fashion, Lifestyle & Society: fashion, luxury, lifestyle, emerging trends, social issues and contemporary culture.
• Science & Medicine: scientific research, medicine, healthcare, biotechnology and science communication.
• Culture: art, literature, history, cultural heritage, publishing and the humanities.
• Defence: defence and security, military affairs, strategic studies, international security and geopolitical analysis.
Working Languages
Italian, English, French, German and Spanish.
Applicants are not expected to work across all languages or fields.
We welcome applications from professionals specializing in a single language and a single subject area, provided they can demonstrate substantial expertise in their chosen field.
Candidate Profile
We are particularly interested in professionals who offer:
• Proven experience in professional editing, journalism, editorial review or the refinement of specialist content.
• Exceptional command of their working language, ideally at native-speaker level.
• Demonstrable subject-matter expertise in at least one of the fields listed above.
• Outstanding editorial judgement, sophisticated writing skills and meticulous attention to terminology, accuracy and style.
• Strong research and fact-checking abilities, where relevant to their area of expertise.
• Professional integrity, discretion, reliability and a consistent commitment to deadlines.
We particularly welcome applications from established journalists, experienced editors, published authors, former editorial staff and independent subject-matter specialists with a strong professional track record.
Collaboration Opportunities
These are freelance, project-based opportunities rather than permanent employment positions or guaranteed ongoing engagements.
Assignments may be carried out remotely, with the scope of work, deadlines and remuneration agreed upon separately for each project.
