I am an experienced translator working from Chinese to English, offering reliable, readable, and detail-orientated translation with primary specialisms
in law (contracts and certificates), business (annual reports, market insights, and HR), medicine (medical devices and IFUs), and academia.

I hold an MA with Distinction in
Chinese-English Translation from SOAS (University of London) and am a Member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, having passed their Diploma in Translation examination with Merit. I have lived in Mainland China and
Taiwan and am familiar with Simplified and Traditional variants.

I have experience working as an academic at Cambridge and Oxford universities, and can assist with the translation of academic papers in the humanities.

I have contributed to the editing of two authoritative
Chinese-English dictionaries for the Commercial Press: the Xinhua Dictionary and the Contemporary
Chinese Dictionary (Chinese-English Edition), checking the accuracy and fluency of the English translations.

Aside from my more commercial work, I am also passionate about traditional Chinese literature, in which I hold a PhD. I have translated Chinese
plays for the Royal Shakespeare Company and Grid Iron, and am editing a forthcoming anthology of translations of Chinese drama.

I understand that speed is so often of the essence when trying to place jobs, and I respond quickly to all enquiries (unless I am asleep or on holiday!). I am flexible with evening and weekend working where required and do not charge extra for work during these times.
