Background

I graduated from Moscow Aviation Institute in 1985 (Engineering – Aircraft Engines) and from Moscow Institute of Civil Aviation Engineers in 1991 (Economic and Management – International Air Transport).
In 1986 – 1993 I worked as an engineer and a researcher in the aerospace industry.
In 1993 – 2004 I worked as a manager/advisor in aerospace and defense, mining, timber industries and in investment banking (industry privatization and anti-crisis management).
My basic foreign language is English (I studied it at school/institutes and special courses since 1970). I also managed to learn French, German, Polish and Hungarian on my own (to certain extent) – I like to read an original book rather than a translated one, as well I wish to understand what is going around when travelling abroad. By 2023 I managed to learn Chinese on my own to translate industrial equipment documents. 
Translating experience

I worked as a freelance translator in 1981 – 1990 (engineering, technology and miscellaneous documents - from English/French/German/Polish/Hungarian into Russian). In 2005 I had to begin to work as a telecommuter and fell back upon my former translating experience. I am a user of SDL Trados Studio 2021. Some of my latest major projects (complete sets of operation/maintenance/repair manuals, parts catalogs, supply and guarantee agreements) are listed below:
· Cummins and Weichai diesel engines (2008 - 2026)
· ITT Gould Pumps, M Pumps, Xylem, Kirloskar, Flowserve, Ebara pumps (2005 - 2024)
· Komatsu and Shantui dozers, excavators and off-road trucks (2005 - 2026) 
· Weihua cranes  (2026) 
When translating a document from English/Chinese into Russian, I look at it as its user rather than a translator. I have enough industrial experience that enables me to understand everything I am translating. I do not work with documents related to issues I am not experienced with as an engineer or a manager.
