I find it a bit of a shame that the ProZ staff are not listening to us about the anonymous polls....

You mean apart from Friday afternoon an hour before everyone else goes home? May 10, 2016

No idea, it varies, and there is no regular pattern.

The Friday thing is not very frequent either, but there may be a slight trend for people to tidy their desks for the weekend and send jobs off. It doesn't happen every week.

It varies a lot. Translation work has a tendency to be irregular, but maybe Fridays... Contrary to what I have “heard” over the years many colleagues complain about I rarely get requests on Friday.

Maybe Monday... yesterday I was immensely relieved to find nothing terribly important in my inbox for most of the day, whereas today I've already received two files for proofing/revision and a tentative request about another one, to which I responded with a deadline around the end of the month.
But it always depends and you never know from one day to the next. I'm just hoping that as little work as possible comes in this week so that I can try to deal with my backlog....

Always very quiet. Lots of people take all or part of the day off.

And I'm not a "weekend emergency" kind of translator.

I imagine it's because you're in a tiny minority.

The question was "the LEAST busy..." May 10, 2016

and your answer is about the most busy. The least busy is Monday, by the same logic - people come in after the week-end, they need time to set in, tell their coleagues about their week-end, drink their coffeee - and even if they start working, they are unlikely to finish any documents sooner than Monday afternoon.

A lot of the polls are thoughtless and irrelevant to our work but who cares whether or not the person posting them is anonymous? What difference does that make?

As for this poll, it's a perfectly good question. I wondered this myself because for me Monday is hands down the least busy day. Now thanks to this poll I see that it's most peoples' experience too.

It varies - and "busy" can apply to different things May 10, 2016

Sometimes, it's Monday, sometimes it's Friday.

Then again, there are weeks where on Friday afternoon the jobs start pouring in.

And many times, Monday morning is delivery time for a job (or more) so the day is busy with proofreading my translation(s) and to-ing and fro-ing of questions/e-mails/files with PMs.

You could equally logically argue that in those weeks Monday to Thursday and Friday morning are the least busy.

My clients are just as likely to come bouncing in on Monday with all the jobs they should have sent on Thursday - and actually wanted ready translated by Sunday evening or at least 10 am Monday when the boss has had coffee and checked the mails...

Luckily that is not a strong tendency either, but it happens.

Definitely Monday May 10, 2016

The least busy day for me is definitely Monday, maybe because people just start working and still don't know they will need a translation. I use this time for finishing other current projects or prepare some glossaries, but I don't receive too many new translation projects on Monday.
