I am translating an xlz kit into Greek, I have finished the file and tried to run a spellcheck. It starts alright but half-way through it gets stuck and I get a Bad Parameter message.
Has it happened to anyone? Is there any way to resolve this? I appreciate any prompt replies.
Best Regards, Ero

This is a known issue with Office 2007 files and spellchecker. We don't have it reported with 2003 files. The root cause is some unrecognized character in the text the spellchecker can't handle. You can try splitting the project to isolate the bad file and allow you to spellcheck the rest of your work. Simpler may be to upload the completed work and alert your project manager from WorldServer. They can either run the spell check operation separately, or if appropriate, open a sup... See more

it's good to know that I am not doing something wrong! Just in case this happens to anyone else and they don't have much time left, I exported the file in segments (.txt file) and used the magic Word trick.
Salute, Ero

...for having opened this thread. I had those problems several times and couldn't find any reason for this behaviour. Some files worked and others showed this "wrong parameter" issue.
Now I know at least the reason for this error.

Bad Parameter due to * in Idiom Workbench

The "Bad Parameter" message appears when an asterisik is the first character in a segment. How to proceed: 1. Run the spellcheck. 2. When the Bad parameter message appears, close the Spellcheck dialog, Ctrl+F to search for *, go to the segment after this segment and continue spellcheck. Same problem happens with the "?" character and if I remember well with a third one that I - well - can't remember If you have many segments starting with * or ?, you can first search/replace these characters using a strange word like "DONTLIKETHISCHARACTER", do your spellcheck and search/replace back. Happy spellchecking... Joseph
I don't know if this discussion is still valid, but I confirm that this message usually displays when the segment begins with a sign. In the documents I just checked : * ) ( -> +
Thanks for your help !
