I have SDL Trados 2006 and installed for the first time 6.2.0.287. The customer send me a lot of glossary files with the above extensions. How can I get them into MT?
This is all very confusing and I'm in a hurry with the project.
Seems I have to do it without the glossaries.
Is there a possibility to convert them into plain text?

Thanks for simple hints.
Regards
Heinrich

Use MT Convert May 10, 2006

Hi Heinrich,

I have SDL Trados 2006 and installed for the first time 6.2.0.287.

I take it you're referring to MultiTerm, right?

The customer send me a lot of glossary files with the above extensions. How can I get them into MT?

MTW is the old file format used with MultiTerm 5.x (.mta and .mdf are associated index files). Use MultiTerm Convert to convert them into MT6.x/7.x-compliant XML format.

The conversion process yields two files:
.xdt - use this database definition to create your termbase
.xml - import this file into your newly-created termbase

HTH, Ralf

Thanks Ralph! May 10, 2006

When I cooled down a ran through the tutorial and managed to convert and install the termbase and import the entries, but unfortunately they are worthless. I had to decline the job.
But next time I know what to do.

Regards
Heinrich
