This term appears in a "出生医学证明书”. What is the proper English term for this? Thanks!
A child's "胎次" should be 5, if his/her mother has had a total of 2 "死产" and 3 "活产".

gravida

Gravidity
Based on the reference I found, gravidity is more precise. According to wiki it refers to the number of times that a woman has been pregnant. BTW, there's another term which may be confused with this one. It's "parity", which means the number of times a female has given birth to a fetus (in Chinese it means 产次).

1. Medical term vs everyday term: There is a difference between "ҽѧ֤" and "֤". The former is usu issued by a hospital, which is bound to use medical terms (Consequently, when translating, it may be better to use a MEDICAL term in English to match it). The latter may be issued by a "֤֡or other government departments.
2. Mother's perspective vs baby's perspective. If we say the mother have had 5 pregnancies, its from the mothers perspective. If we say this baby was a result of his mothers fifth pregnancy, then it is from the babys perspective.
gravida
The number of pregnancies his mother had up till his birth(including him): 1
Gosh, that sounds really bad, doesn't it?

Thanks Michelle. Now, I could translate the whole phrase as "first pregancy". However, if possible, I would love to perserve the format: "XXX": 1. Any other suggestion would be appreciated.
