Hi,
I'm translating into Spanish a short general text about Minya Konka peak:
"Outside, the glacier Stream roared, the thunder rolled and Dordjeletru staged an electrical display in this weird canyon"
緿o you know what Dorjeletru is?

Sorry :( I'm sorry, but thats all the information I've got.
Could Dorjeletru be a God? I imagine that transcription of the Chinese characters is the one I wrote, but I don't have the Chinese word.
David Rockell (X) Apr 30, 2002:
Tibetan is spoken in much of Sichuan and so it is likely to be a transliteration of a Tibetan word.

Minya Konka peak is "Gongga Shan", so I guess the word in question may be from Sichuan.

Dordjeletru = A teacher and protector of Tibetan Nyingmapa

Hello, everyone,

I just spoke with my Tibetan translator, he told me that "Dordjeletru" has 2 meanings. The first meaning is that it is a teacher and protector of Tibetan Nyingmapa (=Red Sect of Buddhism). Yes, it is an unique god. The second meaning is that it is also a religious instrument called "Vajra Thunderbolt".Minya Konka is also known by more people in China as "Gongga Shan" or "Mt. Gongga". My Tibetan friend is not sure the meaning of "Minya Konka". He believes these two words are from the local Tibetan dialect in the mountain area.
